Fish oil – oil derived from the tissues of oily fish, containing the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) – has been used as a supplement for a couple of time. People with nary heart disease should eat at least 1 gram of eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid per day. Those who want to lower the triglycerides should take 2 – 4 grams of eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid as capsules. This will help their health.
The eicosapentaenoic acid is useful for the health of the respiratory system and in preventing asthma or reducing the severity of asthma crises. The results of the researches show that 3,5 grams of fish oil per day is usefull enough for our respiratory system’s health, reducing asthma-specific breathing difficulties.
Several studies reported anti-cancer effects of n−3 fatty acids present in fish oil. Omega-3 fatty acids proved a health-supporting effect, reduced prostate cancer growth, slowed down histopathological progression, and increased the rate of survival, the chance of health for genetically engineered mice. And those five-year-old children whose mothers received modest fish oil supplementation for the first 4 months of breastfeeding performed better on a test of sustained attention – a good proof regarding its brain health supporting effects. At the same time, this suggests that fish oil consumption during early infancy confers long-term benefits on neurodevelopment.

The common men’s diet is usually very poor in omega 3 fatty acids.
